The best signal-based outbound tools in 2026 do one of three jobs: detect a signal, orchestrate data around it, or run the outreach it triggers. traxy is signal-based outbound on autopilot: it finds named people from their LinkedIn posts, comments, likes and reposts, checks each one against your ICP, researches other signals such as hiring, funding and job changes, and runs LinkedIn and email outreach after you approve it. Clay is the data and workflow layer many teams build on. Unify and Common Room are broad platforms that combine data, signals and sequencing. Warmly works from your website visitors. Buska and OutX watch public posts for buying intent. This guide compares all seven by the signal each one reads and the job it does.

Checked on October 30, 2026. traxy wrote this guide and lists itself first. Every competitor description comes from that vendor's own website or announcement, linked in each entry. Features change often, so confirm them with each vendor before you buy.

What is a signal-based outbound tool?

A signal-based outbound tool helps you contact people because of something they or their company just did, instead of because they fit a static list. The signal can be a company event, such as a funding round or a new hire, or a person's own activity, such as a LinkedIn comment about the problem you solve or a visit to your pricing page. A complete setup does three things: it detects the signal, it checks whether the person fits your ideal customer profile (ICP), and it turns the signal into a relevant first message.

Few tools do all three. Most teams combine a detection tool with a data tool and a sequencer, which is why it helps to sort the options by job before comparing features.

Two kinds of signals: company events and a person's engagement

Signals fall into two groups, and they support different messages.

Company trigger events include funding, hiring, job changes, tech stack changes and leadership moves. They tell you an account may have a new need or budget. They don't tell you which person cares, so the first message usually leans on the event itself ("congrats on the raise").

A named person's engagement is a post someone wrote, or a post they commented on, liked or reposted. It tells you that a specific person is paying attention to a topic right now, and it gives you something real to refer to. It doesn't prove budget or timing, so it is a reason to reach out, not a reason to pitch hard.

The strongest leads often have both: a person engaging with your topic at a company that just hit a trigger event.

How we picked

We started from the tools that AI answers and "best signal-based outbound tools" lists named in October 2026, then kept the ones whose own sites say they detect signals, act on them, or both. Many of those lists still recommend Trigify and Koala, so a dated note on each:

  • Trigify: the Trigify team joined HubSpot, and the standalone platform was retired. For most customers, access ended at 11:59pm BST on October 22, 2026 (trigify.io).

  • Koala: Koala announced it was acquired and would shut down by September 30, 2025, and named Common Room as its preferred migration partner (Common Room, July 21, 2025).

We describe each competitor from its own site and don't rank competitors against each other.

The 7 best signal-based outbound tools

1. traxy

traxy finds the people engaging on LinkedIn with the problems you solve, qualifies them against your ICP, and runs reviewed LinkedIn and email outreach.

  • What it does: traxy reads LinkedIn engagement natively in three ways. Social intent search lets you describe a buyer in plain English and returns matching people from more than 71 million scanned LinkedIn likes, posts and comments. Signals let you describe the problems, topics and buying situations tied to your offer, and discovery looks for people whose public activity matches them (signals docs). Tracking follows profiles, single posts and company pages and surfaces the people who engage with them (LinkedIn social listening). On top of that, traxy uses deep research to look for other signals you describe, such as hiring, funding and job changes.

  • Best for: B2B teams and agencies whose buyers are on LinkedIn and who want named, qualified people with the evidence behind each one.

  • How it acts on signals: You create a campaign with trax, describe the audience, your offer and the research you need, and run a test that prepares research and previews without sending anything (campaign docs). Confirming Launch is your approval. traxy then runs LinkedIn and email outreach in one flow, and replies, unsubscribe requests and hard bounces stop outreach to that person (sequence docs).

  • Limits: Engagement signals come from LinkedIn. Other channels come through deep research rather than native monitoring.

  • Website: traxy.ai

2. Clay

Clay is a data and workflow platform where teams enrich, score and route leads, including leads that come from other signal tools.

  • What it does: A data marketplace, AI agents and a visual canvas for building go-to-market plays, with webhooks to pull in signals from other tools (clay.com).

  • Best for: GTM engineers and ops teams that want to build and control their own signal workflows.

  • How it acts on signals: Clay is the orchestration layer. Signals arrive from other sources, Clay enriches and scores them, and a sequencer sends the messages.

  • Limits: You design the workflow yourself, and you still need a detection source and a sending tool.

  • Website: clay.com

3. Unify

Unify is an outbound platform that combines contact data, intent signals, research and multi-channel sequencing behind a chat interface.

  • What it does: Unify says it covers 1.1 billion people and 65 million companies, draws on 40+ data sources, and tracks signals such as web search, job changes, funding, hiring, web visits and tech stack. Automated plays trigger on those signals, and sequences cover email, calls and social, with managed email deliverability (unifygtm.com).

  • Best for: Sales teams that want list building, signals and sequencing in one platform.

  • How it acts on signals: Signal-triggered plays prospect, qualify and add people to sequences.

  • Limits: Its signals lean toward company events and web activity rather than who engaged with which LinkedIn post.

  • Website: unifygtm.com

4. Common Room

Common Room is a buyer intelligence platform that unifies signals from CRM, product, marketing and engagement into a person-level view of each buyer.

  • What it does: Identifies the people behind activity, maps buying committees and adds research, sequencing and dialing, with a 400M+ contact directory for enrichment (commonroom.io). Zoom acquired Common Room, and the deal closed in July 2026 (Zoom announcement).

  • Best for: Larger revenue teams that want many first-party and third-party signal types in one platform.

  • How it acts on signals: Scoring models and plays route in-market buyers to reps and sequences.

  • Limits: Its site describes support for teams of 50 to 1,000+ reps, so expect a heavier setup than a focused detection tool.

  • Website: commonroom.io

5. Warmly

Warmly identifies website visitors at the person level and engages them across chat, email and ads.

  • What it does: Warmly says its AI de-anonymizes website visitors, maps buying committees, scores accounts and runs coordinated email and ad campaigns, with access through its app, an API and an MCP (warmly.ai).

  • Best for: Teams with meaningful website traffic that want to act on who is visiting.

  • How it acts on signals: Visitor intent triggers chat, popups, email and retargeting.

  • Limits: Its core signal is your own website traffic, so it only sees people who have already found you.

  • Website: warmly.ai

6. Buska

Buska watches 30+ platforms, including Reddit, X and LinkedIn, for public posts that show buying intent and scores each one.

  • What it does: You describe what you sell in one sentence, and Buska turns it into queries written the way buyers post, then sends alerts to Slack, Discord, email or a webhook (buska.io).

  • Best for: Founders whose buyers ask for recommendations across many platforms.

  • How it acts on signals: Reply drafts for public threads, and an outreach agent on higher plans.

  • Limits: For native LinkedIn search, Buska asks for your LinkedIn session cookie (pricing FAQ). See traxy vs Buska for a side-by-side.

  • Website: buska.io

7. OutX

OutX is a LinkedIn and Reddit listening tool with keyword, profile and company watchlists, built to help you engage from your own account.

  • What it does: Tracks keywords on LinkedIn or Reddit, plus posts from watched profiles and companies (outx.ai).

  • Best for: Sales reps and founders who want to comment on buyer posts themselves.

  • How it acts on signals: It surfaces posts to engage with; outreach is up to you.

  • Limits: OutX says it runs as a Chrome extension in your browser (pricing FAQ).

  • Website: outx.ai

FAQ

What is signal-based outbound?

It is outreach triggered by something a person or company just did, such as engaging with a relevant LinkedIn post, raising money or hiring for a role, instead of outreach to a static list.

What is the difference between a signal and intent data?

Intent data usually means account-level research activity collected from across the web. A signal is any observable event you can act on, including a named person's post or comment. Person-level signals give your first message something specific to refer to.

Does traxy write and send messages on its own?

No. You review the campaign's audience, sender, message steps and delivery mode, and confirming Launch is the approval. You can pause or stop a campaign at any time.

Can traxy find hiring, funding and job change signals?

Yes. traxy reads LinkedIn engagement natively and uses deep research for signals such as hiring, funding and job changes, plus custom signals you describe.

What replaced Trigify?

Trigify's standalone platform was retired on October 22, 2026. Tools that read LinkedIn engagement, such as traxy, cover the same job of finding people who engage with relevant posts.
