Social intent leads are prospects chosen for two things at once: they fit your ideal customer profile, and their recent LinkedIn activity relates to the problem you solve. [The Demand Department](https://demanddept.com/) , which builds go-to-market systems for founder-led B2B companies, uses that name for a workflow built on traxy and a lead check it built in Claude Code. The team reports that the approach closed a brand-new client within 7 days. That result is self-reported and early, and it comes from one post by the agency.

The workflow has four parts:

1. Define the ICP, signals and pain points in traxy.

2. Track the profiles buyers follow and interact with, so traxy can find leads from those audiences and the wider market.

3. Pass those leads through the traxy MCP into a Claude Code gate that checks company fit, real location and whether the engagement matches the problem.

4. Send leads that pass a five-message LinkedIn sequence with a free deliverable in message 1.

The Demand Department built its own Claude Code gate and wrote its own five-message sequence. Both are the team's custom builds, not out-of-the-box traxy presets.

## Why the team looked at the list first

The team's argument is that a weak sequence may have a list problem, so it checks who receives a sequence before rewriting the copy. Static database leads told the team nothing about what those people had been doing or engaging with.

In the team's experience, a matching job title alone gave no context, and reaching irrelevant people at the wrong time hurt performance. That describes one agency's campaigns, and title lists may hold up differently for other offers. To check your own outbound, [test the list before you rewrite the copy](https://traxy.ai/blog/fix-outbound-lead-list-before-copy) by keeping the offer, sender and message fixed.

## The workflow, step by step

### Step 1: Define the ICP, signals and pain points in traxy

The team starts in traxy by defining who it sells to, which signals it cares about and which pain points it solves. The gate in step 3 reuses those pain points, because it compares each lead's engagement against them.

traxy's [qualification docs](https://docs.traxy.ai/using-traxy/qualification) require a successful ICP match of at least 50% for someone to count as qualified. A higher filter narrows what you see and leaves that threshold unchanged. The team adds its own check after this stage.

### Step 2: Track the profiles buyers follow and interact with

The team tracks profiles its buyers follow and interact with. traxy then finds leads from those audiences and from the wider market, using the criteria from step 1. The post does not name the profiles or say how many the team tracks.

In traxy, this work sits in [Tracking](https://docs.traxy.ai/using-traxy/watchlist) (formerly Watchlist). You choose a relationship for each profile, such as competitor, teammate, influencer, investor or custom. Ongoing monitoring covers a managed window of the five most recent posts published after you add the profile, and older posts need a specific post request. The docs describe candidate counts as people to evaluate, with no guaranteed number of qualified leads. For source selection, read [who to track on LinkedIn to find leads](https://traxy.ai/blog/who-to-track-on-linkedin-for-leads) .

### Step 3: Run leads through a Claude Code gate

The team feeds leads through the [traxy MCP](https://docs.traxy.ai/using-traxy/connect-claude) into Claude Code, where it built a gate with three checks: company fit, real location and whether the engagement matches the problem it solves. Leads that pass move to outreach.

The team has not published its exact rules. The criteria below are our suggested starting point for the same three checks, and the hold column is our addition.

Check

Pass

Fail

Hold for manual review

Company fit

The company meets each must-have in your ICP

The company breaks a must-have

The company cannot be identified, or a must-have field is missing

Real location

Evidence places the person in a market you can serve

Evidence places the person outside those markets

Location is missing, or sources conflict

Engagement matches the problem

You can name the pain point the recorded engagement relates to, in one sentence

The topic has no link to your offer, or the only link is the person's job title

The engagement record is too thin to judge

The post does not define real location, so the table reflects our reading of it. Missing data counts as unknown, which is why it goes to hold.

The team has published no sample lead, so this template uses placeholders. Fill them in and test it on one lead:

```text
Check one lead against my outreach gate. Use only data returned by the traxy tools.
ICP must-haves: [list]
Markets I can serve: [list]
Problem I solve: [one sentence]
Pain points: [list]
Read the lead with traxy_get_lead, traxy_list_lead_engagements and traxy_list_lead_signals.
Return PASS, FAIL or HOLD for each check, with the evidence you used:
1. Company fit: does the company meet each must-have?
2. Real location: is the person in a market I can serve?
3. Engagement match: which pain point does the recorded engagement relate to?
If a field is missing, return HOLD and name the field.
Mark the lead READY only if all three checks are PASS.
```

traxy's [MCP tools reference](https://docs.traxy.ai/api-reference/mcp/tools.md) lists those three tools and describes the last two as returning recorded engagement summaries and lead signals with their available context. It does not state which company or location fields come back, so confirm that each check has data before you rely on it. Available tools also depend on your connection's scope and workspace.

### Step 4: Send a five-message sequence with a free deliverable first

Leads that pass get a five-message LinkedIn sequence with a free deliverable in message 1. The post does not describe the deliverable or messages 2 to 5.

It does describe the path of the first client. That client replied to message 1, the team sent the deliverable, one follow-up came next, then a call, and a pilot closed. To tie your opener to what a lead did, read [from a LinkedIn signal to a message you can back up](https://traxy.ai/blog/linkedin-signal-to-message) .

## What the team reports

[The Demand Department](https://demanddept.com/) team reports these figures to date, in its own post. The post includes no denominators, no independent analytics and no period beyond results so far.

Measure

Team-reported result

Team's comparison figure

Calls booked

3-10 a week

None given

Connection acceptance

About 30%

About 15% on its other LinkedIn campaigns

Replies

About 20%

10-15%

Closed within 7 days

None given

The post does not say when the 7 days started or how many leads passed the gate. It also does not say whether the comparison campaigns shared an offer, sender or audience, so these figures cannot isolate the list as the cause. The company's site says it does not guarantee meetings.

## How to adapt it

1. Write the problem you solve in one sentence. The third gate check depends on it.

2. Choose tracked profiles by how closely their audience overlaps with your buyers, and record why each one is on the list.

3. Run the gate on a small sample and read its evidence for each decision. Tighten any criterion that produces calls you disagree with.

4. Choose a free deliverable tied to a pain point from your gate, and one your team can produce each time someone replies.

5. Define a qualified conversation in writing before launch, a practice The Demand Department describes on its site.

6. Report acceptance, replies, calls and clients separately, with the number of leads behind each.

An agency prospecting for itself owns its ICP, offer and follow-up. Running this for client accounts changes those responsibilities, and traxy's [agency page](https://traxy.ai/agency) covers that route.

## Limitations

- **Small sample.** The evidence is one agency's self-reported early results, and one closed pilot is one data point.

- **Gate quality depends on your criteria.** A vague ICP gives the gate nothing firm to check, and Claude Code can judge only the data the traxy tools return.

- **Engagement shows relevance.** It does not establish budget, authority, timing or permission to contact someone.

- **Market coverage varies.** The workflow needs buyers who are active on LinkedIn around your problem.

- **No guarantee.** Nothing here promises calls, replies or a client within any period.

## FAQ

### What are social intent leads?

This is The Demand Department's name for its approach of selecting prospects by ICP fit and relevant LinkedIn engagement, then checking them before outreach.

### Is this the same as traxy's Social intent search?

[Social intent search](https://traxy.ai/blog/social-intent-search-linkedin) is a traxy feature that finds prospects by what they have said and engaged with on LinkedIn. The post does not say whether the team used it.

### Does traxy include the Claude Code gate?

No. The team built it. traxy supplies the MCP connection, and you write the criteria and logic.

### Do job title lists stop working?

The team found that a title match alone gave it too little context. Its post does not show that title lists fail for other companies.

### Will this produce the same numbers for my team?

The sources give no basis for predicting that. The figures are self-reported, have no denominators and come from one agency's offer and market.
