**Buying signal software tells you who might be ready to hear from you, and why. It comes in two kinds. Account tools such as 6sense, Bombora and UserGems read company events and research activity: funding, hiring, job changes, website visits and topic surges. Engagement tools such as traxy, Teamfluence and Jungler read what a named person did on LinkedIn: the post they wrote, commented on, liked or reposted. traxy is [signal-based outbound on autopilot](https://traxy.ai/signal-based-outbound) . It reads LinkedIn engagement natively, uses deep research for trigger signals like hiring, funding and job changes, checks each person against your ICP, and runs LinkedIn and email outreach you approve. This guide explains what each kind of signal proves and compares the main tools.**

_Checked October 30 to November 2, 2026. traxy wrote this guide and lists itself first. Every competitor description comes from that vendor's own website, linked in each entry. Features change often, so confirm them with each vendor before you buy._

## What is buying signal software?

Buying signal software watches for events that suggest a company or a person may need what you sell, then puts those events in front of your sales team. Some tools stop at the alert. Others score the lead, enrich it with contact data and start outreach.

The useful question isn't "which tool has the most signals". It's "what can my first message honestly say because of this signal". That depends on which kind of signal the tool reads.

## Company triggers vs engagement signals: what each one proves

**Company trigger signals** include a funding round, a hiring push, a new executive, a tech stack change, a surge in research on a topic, or a visit to your website. They suggest an account may have a new need or new budget. They usually don't tell you which person at the company cares, so the first message leans on the event ("saw you're hiring three SDRs") and you guess at the right contact.

**Engagement signals** come from a named person. Someone wrote a post about the problem you solve, commented on a competitor's post, or liked a post about switching tools. That tells you a specific person is paying attention to your topic now, and it gives you something real to refer to. It doesn't prove budget or timing, so treat it as a reason to start a conversation, not a reason to pitch hard.

The best leads often have both: a person engaging with your topic at a company that just hit a trigger event. That is why traxy reads engagement natively and adds trigger signals through deep research instead of picking one side.

## What to look for in buying signal software

1. **A named person, not just a company.** Account-level intent helps you prioritize. A person-level signal tells you who to message.

2. **The evidence behind the signal.** You should be able to open the post or comment that triggered the lead before you write to them. If you can't see it, you can't refer to it.

3. **ICP fit on every lead.** A signal from someone outside your market is noise. Look for a fit check on role, company and industry. In traxy, a person qualifies as a lead only with an ICP match of at least 50 percent ([qualification docs](https://docs.traxy.ai/discovery/qualification) ).

4. **Control over what counts as a signal.** You should be able to describe the problems, topics and buying situations that matter for your offer, instead of accepting a fixed list.

5. **A clear path to action.** Decide whether you want alerts in Slack or your CRM, or a tool that also runs the outreach.

6. **Honest freshness.** Ask how often sources are checked. In traxy, followed profiles are checked twice a day.

## Buying signal tools compared

### Engagement-based tools (a named person's LinkedIn activity)

#### 1\. traxy

**traxy finds the people engaging on LinkedIn with the problems you solve, qualifies them against your ICP and runs reviewed LinkedIn and email outreach.**

- **Signals it reads:** In Signals you describe buyer pains, buying triggers, topics, competitors and relevance rules, and discovery looks for people whose public LinkedIn activity matches ([signals docs](https://docs.traxy.ai/discovery/signals) ). Tracking follows profiles, single posts and company pages and surfaces the people who engage with them ([tracking docs](https://docs.traxy.ai/discovery/tracking) ). [Social intent search](https://traxy.ai/social-intent-search) lets you describe a buyer in plain English and search more than 71 million LinkedIn likes, posts and comments. Deep research adds trigger signals such as hiring, funding and job changes.

- **Evidence:** Each lead has a Signals tab with the recorded observations and available source links, labeled Warm, Related or Activity by strength, so your first message can refer to what the person actually did ([signals docs](https://docs.traxy.ai/discovery/signals) ).

- **Action:** You build a campaign with trax, test it without sending, and confirming Launch is your approval. traxy then runs LinkedIn and email outreach in one flow.

- **Best for:** B2B teams and agencies whose buyers are active on LinkedIn.

- **Limits:** Native engagement signals come from LinkedIn. Other channels come through deep research rather than native monitoring.

#### 2\. Teamfluence

**Teamfluence collects engagement with your own team and company page and runs outreach workflows on it.**

- **Signals it reads:** Profile visits on teammates' profiles and your company page, likes, comments, shares, follows and new connections, plus tracked competitor posts, influencer activity and keywords ([teamfluence.com](https://teamfluence.com/) ).

- **Action:** Checks each person against your ICP, enriches with email and phone, and sends leads to the tools you use.

- **Best for:** Teams whose own people post often and want to work their own network.

- **Limits:** Its core signal is engagement with your own team's assets, so reach depends on how active your team is on LinkedIn.

#### 3\. Jungler

**Jungler monitors LinkedIn profiles you paste in and captures who engages with their posts.**

- **Signals it reads:** People who like or comment on posts from any profile you track, enriched with email, region, company size, industry, title and seniority. Jungler says setup needs no cookies, browser extension or logins ([jungler.ai](https://www.jungler.ai/) ).

- **Action:** Routes leads to the tools where your reps work.

- **Best for:** Teams that know which LinkedIn creators their buyers follow.

- **Limits:** It works from profiles you choose, so coverage depends on picking the right ones. See [Jungler alternatives](https://traxy.ai/blog/jungler-alternatives) .

#### 4\. Buska and OutX

**Buska and OutX watch public posts for keywords and requests.** Buska covers 30+ platforms including Reddit, X and LinkedIn and turns a one-sentence description of what you sell into searches ([buska.io](https://www.buska.io/) ). OutX tracks LinkedIn and Reddit keywords plus watched profiles and companies, and runs as a Chrome extension ([outx.ai](https://www.outx.ai/) ). Both suit founders who want to reply to posts themselves. Outreach and ICP scoring are mostly up to you. See [traxy vs Buska](https://traxy.ai/blog/traxy-vs-buska) and [OutX alternatives](https://traxy.ai/blog/outx-alternatives) .

### Account and trigger tools (company events and research activity)

#### 5\. UserGems

**UserGems combines first-party data with 30+ native signals, including job changes, contact-level intent, website visits, M&A and hiring, plus a research agent for custom signals** ([usergems.com](https://www.usergems.com/) ). It scores accounts and contacts, and reps see signals inside Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach and Salesloft. Best for revenue teams with a CRM full of past customers and champions. UserGems says setup typically takes 3 to 4 weeks.

#### 6\. 6sense

**6sense is an account intelligence platform that uses web deanonymization and what it calls a 1B+ intent network to show which accounts are researching topics like yours** ([6sense.com](https://6sense.com/) ). Best for larger marketing and sales teams running account-based programs. Its signals are strongest at the account level, so you still pick the person to contact.

#### 7\. Bombora

**Bombora is a B2B data company whose Company Surge intent data reflects research across 14B+ monthly events and 5M company domains from its publisher data co-op** ([bombora.com](https://bombora.com/) ). It describes itself as a data company, not a platform, so you activate its data in your CRM, ad tools or another platform. Best for teams that want account-level topic intent to feed existing tools.

#### 8\. Common Room

**Common Room unifies CRM, product, marketing and engagement signals into a person-level view of each buyer, with research, sequencing and dialing** ([commonroom.io](https://www.commonroom.io/) ). Zoom acquired Common Room, and the deal closed in July 2026 ([Zoom](https://www.zoom.com/en/blog/zoom-to-acquire-common-room/) ). Best for larger revenue teams with lots of first-party data.

_A note on Trigify:_ many buying signal lists still name it. Its team joined HubSpot and the standalone platform was retired, with access ending on October 22, 2026 for most customers ([trigify.io](https://www.trigify.io/) ).

## How to act on a buying signal without overreading it

- **Refer to what happened, then stop.** "Saw your comment on the post about SDR ramp time" is honest. "Saw you're looking for a new outbound tool" claims more than a comment proves.

- **Stack signals before you pitch.** One like is light. A comment plus a hiring push at the same company is a stronger reason to ask for a call.

- **Check fit first.** A signal from outside your ICP is a distraction, however strong it looks.

- **Move fast but keep a human in the loop.** Review the lead and the message before it goes out. In traxy, confirming Launch is that review.
